According to police reports, the Molander family was traveling southbound on I-81 near mile marker 18 in an RV towing an enclosed trailer. Suddenly, the RV’s front left tire blew out, sending the vehicle swerving across the grass median into oncoming northbound traffic.
The RV collided head-on at high speed with a tractor-trailer driven by James Shade of West Virginia. All five occupants of the RV plus a dog were pronounced dead at the scene.
