Lopez went on to study business management at Elgin Community College. After graduating, Lopez worked as an assistant manager at a local auto parts store.
Outside of work and his studies, Lopez had a wide network of friends and was known for his charismatic, outgoing personality. He had an infectious laugh and a knack for brightening any room he walked into. Lopez was also extremely close with his family, including his parents, siblings, wife Ravin, and young children. Family was everything to Lopez, and he took immense pride in his role as a son, brother, father, and husband.

On the evening of August 9th, Lopez was out riding his motorcycle along Highway 31 near Elgin. As he was passing through an intersection, a car driving in the opposite direction made a sudden left turn directly into Lopez’s path. Lopez’s motorcycle collided at full speed with the turning car.
