Sean Dawkins Obituary: Dawkins’ Standout College Career

Sean Dawkins played wide receiver for the University of California, Berkeley from 1989-1992 where he became a prolific offensive weapon for the Golden Bears.

The San Francisco native had a breakout senior season in 1992 when he hauled in 65 catches for 1,070 yards, both single-season Cal program records. His 14 touchdown grabs that year also stand as a school record.

By the end of his collegiate career, Dawkins held Cal records for career touchdown receptions (31) along with single-season receptions and receiving yards. His success landed him in the Cal Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005.

NFL Career with the Colts and Beyond

Dawkins’ college dominance led to the Indianapolis Colts selecting him in the first round of the 1993 NFL Draft. He spent the majority of his pro career with the Colts from 1993-1997.

Over 5 seasons in Indianapolis, Dawkins compiled 251 catches, 3,511 yards and 12 touchdowns. He joined the Seattle Seahawks in 1999 and enjoyed his best pro season with 58 receptions, 992 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Dawkins wrapped up his 9-year NFL career after a season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In total, he racked up 445 catches for 6,291 yards and 25 touchdowns as a pro.
