Maria Carosella Obituary: The community of North Hills, PA is mourning the passing of Maria Carosella, a devoted mother, wife and friend who died after a recurrence of colon cancer. She was a caring presence who uplifted all who knew her.
Maria Carosella Obituary: Early Life and Education
Maria Carosella (nee McHugh) was born in Roslyn, PA to parents Joseph and Dolly McHugh. She graduated Bishop McDevitt High School in 1984 and went on to earn her Associate’s degree from Peirce College.
Maria began working as a legal assistant at prominent law firm Reed Smith, where she impressed colleagues with her kindness and enthusiasm. Her career later brought her to Fox Chase Cancer Center and Ursinus College.
Devotion to Family
Maria married Gino Carosella in 1995, and the couple welcomed twins Vincent and Colette in 2001. She embraced motherhood fully, becoming an enthusiastic soccer mom and dance mom. Beach trips and family time brought Maria immense joy.
Even when Gino was diagnosed with ALS, Maria faced the challenge with grace while continuing to care for him and their children. Her strength was unmatched.
A Positive Spirit
Despite her own cancer diagnosis and hardships, Maria maintained a remarkably positive attitude that lifted up others. Her laughter and smile brightened any room.
Maria’s warmth and selflessness made her a treasured friend. She had a natural gift for bringing people together and forming meaningful connections. Her caring spirit touched the Ursinus community during 13 years working there.
A Life Well Lived
While Maria faced trials with courage, she always made the most of life – crafting, walking her dog Penny, and spending time with loved ones. Her zest was inspiring.
A funeral mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 820 North Hills Avenue, Ardsley PA 19038 at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023. There will be a closed casket visitation at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will occur after Mass and will be at Hillside Cemetery (Jenkintown Road entrance). Donations can be made to the Maria Carosella Memorial Scholarship at Ursinus College.
Though deeply missed, Maria’s legacy shines on through those she lifted up in life with her humor, compassion and uncommon grace through hardship. Hers was a life well lived.
