Donald Welker was born in Danville, IL in 1931. He proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Donald was a decorated member of the esteemed Fraternity of Honor of “The Chosin’ Few” – surviving veterans of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir.
After completing his military duties, Donald returned home to build a life with his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Ann. Together they raised three children in Pennsylvania.

Faith and family were pillars of Donald Welker’s life. He was a devout member of Anchor Baptist Church who relished time with his large extended family including grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After a rich life spanning 91 years, Donald Welker passed away peacefully under hospice care on August 9th, 2023. His remains will be laid to rest on August 25th with military honors at Spring Hill Cemetery in his hometown of Danville, IL.
