The anime has been on hiatus since late 2022, leaving fans eagerly awaiting its return. The Boruto anime began airing in April 2017 as a direct spin-off sequel to the Naruto Shippuden anime series. It adapts the events of the Boruto manga which itself is a sequel to the Naruto manga series.
For several years, the anime series aired consistently on a weekly schedule. However, in October 2022, the series abruptly went on hiatus after episode 268 aired. This unexpected pause in the middle of an arc left fans confused and disappointed.

When Will The Anime Resume?
Unfortunately, there has been no official announcement yet on exactly when new episodes of the Boruto anime will return. However, most forecasts expect the series to resume sometime in 2023.
Many speculated that Boruto anime will come back in April 2023, which would mark the 6-month anniversary of the hiatus. This lines up well with typical anime production schedules, however we are still waiting.
Others estimated the anime could return as late as Summer 2023. However, this return seemed most likely based on the anime usually taking breaks aligned to seasonal cycles.
A Spring 2023 return would coincide with significant new manga story content for the writers to adapt into new anime arcs. The manga is delving further into the Code arc in 2023 which should give the show enough material to cover the next anime storyline.
What to Expect When Boruto Returns? Spoiler Alert!
When Boruto anime finally resumes, fans can expect some exciting new storylines and episodes.
For one, the anime will tackle the Code arc from the manga involving Code, the last active Inner of Kara who wants to retrieve the Ten-Tails. This will lead to epic ninja battles as Boruto and Team 7 take on this formidable foe.
The anime is also expected to finally adapt the time-travel arc involving Boruto and Sasuke going back in time to the era of Naruto and the Leaf Village origins. This highly anticipated storyline has been teased in the anime opening but not yet shown.
Furthermore, the return of the anime will allow fan-favorite characters like the new Team 7, Mitsuki, Sarada and Konohamaru to once again take center stage. More character development and jutsu abilities will be highlighted.
