New Hope Councilwoman Laurie McHugh Killed In Fatal Crash In Buckingham
Laurie Mchugh obituary, Death: Popular New Hope councilwoman and business owner Laurie McHugh was killed in a tragic car accident on Monday in Buckingham Township, Pennsylvania. The two-vehicle crash occurred around 1pm on Durham Road (State Route 413) near Upper Mountain Road.
Fatal Collision Under Investigation
According to a press release from the Buckingham Township Police Department, McHugh was driving a 2016 Audi that collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. Her vehicle sustained major front-end damage.
McHugh was rushed to St. Mary Medical Center with multiple injuries but sadly did not survive. The tractor-trailer driver also sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.
The cause of the fatal collision remains under investigation by Buckingham police and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. An autopsy on McHugh is still pending.

The news of 58-year-old McHugh’s untimely passing has left the close-knit community of New Hope reeling. McHugh served on the New Hope Borough Council since 2016 and was currently Vice President.

Longtime member Danielle Arias described McHugh as a caring mentor and motivator “whose encouragement was infectious.” She said McHugh “treated every person she encountered as part of her extended family.”
