Eric Hatke Obituary: Early Life and Education
Eric was born on May 23, 1965 in Princeton, New Jersey to parents Fred and Judith Hatke. He graduated from Princeton Day School in 1983 before earning his Bachelor of Science from Lafayette College in 1987.
At Lafayette, Eric was an accomplished varsity swimmer and fencer. His lifelong connection with swimming began in childhood at the Lenape Swim Club.
Esteemed Career and Engineering Talents
After college, Eric embarked on a fulfilling career as a Mechanical Engineer with the U.S. Navy. He worked his way up to the position of Chief Mechanical Design Engineer over decades of distinguished service.
Outside of work, Eric contributed his engineering talents by serving on the Hopewell Township Zoning Board of Adjustments. He also spent years tutoring students in math and science.
Beloved Family Man and Father
Eric married his devoted wife Theresa in 1993, and together they raised two cherished children, Emilianne and Ethan. His family brought Eric his greatest joy.
He was always willing to lend a hand to his kids, whether helping with homework, coaching their teams, or pursuing new hobbies together like golf, skiing, and trap shooting.
Generous Community Member
Beyond family, Eric contributed to organizations like his childhood swim club and golf club by serving on boards and volunteering his time. He also spent years as a USA Swimming official.
Friends remember Eric’s ever-present willingness to help neighbors and his community. His generosity and compassion knew no bounds.

In his free time, Eric indulged passions like golfing, skiing, woodworking, and piloting small aircraft. His handcrafted furniture showcased immense talent.

Eric Hatke lived his 58 years to the fullest by pouring his whole heart into his family, making a difference through work, and pursuing hobbies with enthusiasm. He will be remembered for his kindness, talents, and readiness to help others.
A memorial gathering will take place on September 9th followed by a 5pm service at Blackwell Memorial Home to celebrate Eric’s incredible life. His community will deeply feel this loss but find peace in his legacy.
