Madison Argo Obituary: Argo’s Music Teaching Career

Madison Argo served as Director of Bands at Wheeler High School in Marietta, overseeing all aspects of the program including the marching band and concert bands.

Prior to Wheeler High, Argo was a band director at Rowlett High School in Dallas, Texas. There, he led the jazz band, honors band, and marching band.

Argo was a native of Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Auburn University followed by a Master’s in Wind Conducting from Ball State University.

Leadership in College Band Programs

At Auburn, Argo demonstrated his leadership skills as the Head Drum Major for the 380-member Auburn University Marching Band.

He was also active in the band fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi, serving as President and Secretary. His commitment to band continued beyond his studies.

Involvement in Professional Music Organizations

Madison Argo was dedicated to music education, holding memberships in prominent groups including the National Band Association, National Association for Music Educators, and more.

For eight consecutive years, Argo worked on the music staff for the Macy’s Great American Marching Band in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as well. He constantly sought to expand his conducting and teaching abilities.

Previous Positions in Georgia

Prior to his graduate studies, Argo served as Associate Director of Bands at Whitewater High School in Fayetteville, GA.

Under his direction, the Wildcat Marching Band performed internationally at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland and Walt Disney World. He gained valuable experience teaching high school bands before Wheeler.

Remembering a Passionate Music Educator

Madison Argo was committed to sharing his love of music throughout his teaching career. Former students and colleagues describe him as a kind, genuine soul filled with positivity.

His sudden passing at just 25 years old is a devastating loss for the Wheeler High School community, where he was a guiding light for the band program. Argo will be remembered as a talented and dedicated music educator gone far too soon.
