Paul Goike Obituary : The community is mourning the loss of Paul Allen Goike, who passed away on October 7, 2023 at 69 years old. Goike touched many lives through his decades as an educator, youth coach, and devoted family man in Michigan. He will be honored at upcoming memorial services.

Paul Goike Obituary :Early Life and Family

Paul Goike was born in Detroit in 1953 to parents Francis and Beverly (Navin) Goike. In 1976, he married his loving wife Karen, who stood by his side for 47 wonderful years.

Together they raised three children – Melissa, Matt, and Chris Goike – who Paul cherished deeply. He was a proud grandfather to Carlos, Paul, Blake, Gunnar, and Tilly, supporting their activities and accomplishments.

Passion for Education and Coaching

Goike discovered his passion for guiding youth while coaching his sons’ soccer teams. This led him to pivot careers to become a teacher and continue making an impact.

For many years, Goike taught at Lakeview High School where he was a favorite among students. His enthusiasm in the classroom earned him Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2020.

Goike also took on coaching roles like leading the girls Powder Puff football team. He invested in kids’ lives on and off the field.

Embracing Life’s Joys

Beyond teaching and coaching, Goike pursued many interests that brought him happiness. He loved auto racing, 1970s cars, traveling to historical sites, and most of all, supporting his grandkids’ endeavors.

Goike found joy in life’s simple pleasures like family time and cheering on the next generation. Even during cancer treatments starting in 2020, his spirit remained resilient.

A Lasting Legacy

Paul Goike’s unwavering commitment to his students, players, and most of all his family left a meaningful legacy. He taught generations of youth and nurtured his own children with patience and pride.

Goike fought valiantly against cancer complications for years before finally succumbing on October 7, 2023. Although deeply mourned, his spirit persists through those he mentored.

Honoring His Life

To pay tribute to Goike’s life, visitation will be held October 11-12 in Romeo, MI at Henry Malburg Funeral Home. His funeral mass will follow on October 13 at St. John and Paul Catholic Church.Funeral starts at 11am.

Friends, family members, students, and players whose lives Goike touched will gather to support one another during this difficult time. By sharing memories and laughs, Goike’s bright spirit will be felt.

The communities Goike invested in will never forget his dedication and care. Though gone too soon, his legacy endures through the generations of lives he influenced for the better.
