Anthony Carter Obituary

Anthony Carter Obituary: The community is mourning the loss of Anthony “Tony” Dean Carter, who passed away on October 5, 2023, the same day his beloved Chicago Bears ended their losing streak. Tony lived life to the fullest through his humor, compassion, and dedication to connecting with others.

Anthony Carter Obituary: Early Life and Family

Tony was born on August 24, 1984 in Knoxville, Iowa to parents Lee and Linda (DeZwarte) Carter. He grew up on West Washington Street surrounded by a large extended family. Tony was the beloved brother of Chris, Jacy, Briane, and Lindsey.

From a young age, Tony displayed a natural talent and passion for intellectual and athletic pursuits alike. He accomplished anything he set his mind to, yet remained humble.

Gifted Sense of Humor

What most people remember about Tony is his brilliant, irreverent wit. He inherited his family’s knack for comedy and honed it to perfection. Tony could find humor in any situation and took joy in sharing observational gems with others.

Caring Spirit

Tony’s true gift was the open, unconditional way he engaged with people. He listened deeply, offered his full presence, and forged heartfelt connections. Tony selflessly invested in bringing joy to everyone around him.

At his job at Casey’s General Store, Tony built up a “fan club” of customers who cherished his humor and conversation. He maintained lifelong passions for skateboarding, playing pool, and video games.

Dedicated to Family

Tony loved spending time with family and friends. His greatest devotion was to his daughter Zayla, to whom he dedicated his life. He also helped raise Zelda, Zander, Kaelyn, and Ryker, who were like his own.

Tony shared unbreakable bonds with his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was their rock and source of laughter.

Lasting Legacy

Tony Carter lived life with humor, generosity, and deep care for others. His unique spirit touched everyone who knew him. Though gone too soon at 38, Tony’s legacy lives on through the smiles he brought to so many faces. He will be forever missed and celebrated.

A Celebration of Life for Tony will be held on October 15 in Des Moines. All who wish to honor his memory are encouraged to attend and don their best “skater gear” in tribute to Tony’s fun-loving spirit.
