Abby Sterling first joined the UT Dallas softball staff in September 2022, taking over the head coaching role for the 2022-2023 season. Though only at UTD for a short time, Sterling made a profound impact through her energetic coaching style and focus on building up her athletes.
Despite being new to the head role, Sterling led the team to a 24-18 record and an ASC Championship Tournament berth this past season. Her guidance and support helped motivate players to succeed. Sterling’s presence will be deeply missed on and off the field.
A Standout Player Turned Coach
Before embarking on a coaching career, Abby Sterling shined as a standout softball player at Louisiana College from 2016-2019. She excelled both at bat and defensively at first base, earning All-Conference honors.
After several assistant roles, Sterling felt ready to take the reins as a head coach. She poured the same passion into guiding her student athletes that made her a gifted player. Though gone too soon, her coaching legacy lives on through her players.
An Irreplaceable Community Member
